Can My Parents Access My Search History?

I'm a teenager and I've been through some tough times recently. I ended up searching for some inappropriate stuff online, and I've promised myself never to do it again. I deleted my search history and even used a fake account, but now I'm worried about whether my parents can still see what I searched through our Wi-Fi. My dad isn't really tech-savvy, but my mom knows a bit more. I'm really scared of what would happen if they found out, especially since they're really strict. I came across conflicting information whether they can see the search history or not. Also, if there's any way to ensure they can't see what I searched, including the dates, I'd love to know. I'm worried about visits to specific adult sites too. Please help me out!

Have you tried using private browsing? It’s super easy; once you close those windows, there’s no history saved. Also, using a VPN can help keep your internet activity hidden from anyone. Most regular home routers don’t keep long-term logs, and if parents reboot the router, the logs sometimes get wiped. So don't stress too much about it!

Exactly! As long as you’re not being reckless, you should be fine. Just remember to maintain your privacy.

It really depends on how tech-savvy your parents are. If they know how to check the internet logs on the router, they might see which sites were visited, but most parents don’t have the time or knowledge to do that unless they're suspicious. If they don’t seem concerned, it’s likely they won’t look too closely.

If you’ve already deleted your history, your parents can't see it. Just be careful about how you browse in the future. If your mom ever asks, you could show her the cleared history to avoid raising suspicions.

If your parents access your computer directly, they can see logs there. For Wi-Fi, it’s possible for them to check, but if they didn’t set it up specifically to monitor you, they probably aren’t aware. They likely won't know exactly what you searched unless they’re really tech-focused.

You could check the settings of your Wi-Fi router. If you log into the admin panel—usually found at an address like 192.168.0.1—you can often see logs there and delete anything that’s been tracked. A factory reset can also clear those logs, but keep in mind that resets can change your Wi-Fi name and password!
