Can my VR link cable transmit malware from my PC?

I have a bit of a tech question, though I feel like it might sound silly. Recently, I dealt with malware on my PC, which forced me to do a complete Windows reinstall. While the malware was still active, I used my VR headset connected via link cable. I'm worried that the virus might have spread to my VR setup, so I did a factory reset on it. Is it safe to use the link cable now?

You're totally fine! Viruses that target PCs typically don't impact VR headsets. Your headset runs on a different operating system than your PC, so anything on your PC won't affect it directly. You're good to go!

Just to be sure, what kind of link cable are you using and where did you get it? It's good to check that too!

I'm using a Kiwi cable that's compatible with Quest 2. I bought it directly from their website.

Also, your VR headset, like Meta's, runs on Meta Horizon OS, which is Android-based. So, the chances of a virus that can affect both your PC and the VR headset at the same time are really low. Just enjoy your VR!
