Hey everyone, I'm new to the world of cryptocurrency and I'm a bit nervous about the safety of storing my wallet's seed phrase. I recently heard about someone who lost $800 million because their girlfriend accidentally threw away their hard drive that had the seed phrase saved. So, I thought about saving my seed phrase in an encrypted format online. I came across this string: 74jv1nRaY66Zb31M5bA+vQ==. Can anyone help me understand if it's possible to decrypt this or what it really is?

This is indeed Base64 encoded. It decodes to 128 bits, which might be used for BIP-39 seed entropy. However, you’ll need a checksum to turn it into a valid seed phrase. Unfortunately, you can’t derive a single word directly from it.

Is it safe to store my seed phrase in this way, then?

Yep, it's definitely Base64. Just to clarify, the decoded string is 'tZco}L>'. But I’m not sure if it’s encrypted or not. Just watch out when storing sensitive information like seed phrases!

Thanks for the tip! How do I ensure I'm storing my phrases safely?

What you have there is actually a Base64 encoded string. When you decode it, you get 'tZco}L>', which isn’t encrypted, just encoded. Make sure you know the difference between encoding and encryption!
