Can Wine 11 Run Fancontrol or Similar Apps for Hardware Management?

With the recent update to Wine 11, I'm curious whether this would enable the use of fan control applications like Fancontrol, which manage hardware. I must admit, my knowledge about how Wine operates is pretty limited. I understand it's a compatibility layer, but I'm not entirely clear on whether apps run in a sandbox or how they interact with hardware. The reason I keep using Windows is mainly because of Fancontrol; I haven't had success getting Coolercontrol to function with my hardware setup.

Your BIOS can actually handle fan control just fine. You can even set up custom fan curves, which is great for micromanaging your system's cooling.

The BIOS can control fan speeds, but many find it doesn't work as expected, especially for GPU fans. If you're not able to get Coolercontrol or similar software working on your distro, that could be the issue.

Why not just try native alternatives like Coolercontrol? If you're on CachyOS, you shouldn't run into too many issues setting it up.

Fan control software on Linux can definitely be a pain. Wine won't allow those Windows apps to control hardware in the same way, since it's more of a compatibility layer. You might find it easier to explore alternative applications that are designed for Linux instead! Here's a link to one that could help: https://flathub.org/en/apps/io.github.wiiznokes.fan-control. Good luck!
