I just bought my MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card and I'm super excited! Before I buy the rest of my components, I want to make sure everything looks good. Here's what I'm planning:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.70GHz 8-Core
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7
- **RAM**: Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5-6000
- **SSD**: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB NVMe
- **Case**: Fractal Design Pop XL Air RGB
- **Power Supply**: Corsair RM1000x 1000 Watt
- **Thermal Compound**: Arctic Silver 5
- **Water Cooling**: Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer III Pro 360mm
- **Case Fans**: Noctua NF-P12 Redux (3x)
- **Operating System**: Windows 11 Home
I'm picking up the rest of the components this weekend, and I'm hoping to get some feedback. Does anyone see any potential issues with my choices?

I’d recommend reconsidering the thermal paste. The Arctic MX-6 that comes with the AIO is actually quite good, and you might not need the Arctic Silver 5 at all. Also, the AIO cooler is more likely to be loud than a good air cooler, so just keep that in mind if you want a quieter setup.
Your build looks fantastic, but it is quite pricey! Just to consider: is there a specific feature of the X870E chipset that you absolutely need, or could you save some money going for a B850? And do you really need 64GB of RAM? Unless you're doing heavy multitasking or specific workloads, you might get by fine with 32GB. Also, there are cheaper SSD options that perform almost as well, and I'd suggest questioning the need for such a high-wattage PSU; a good 850W should be plenty.
If you're worried about RAM prices, I've found that slightly looser timings on non-RGB RAM can save you some cash without sacrificing performance. You might want to check out G.Skill's offerings, they have some decent options.
Good tip! I'll look at alternatives if the prices don't change soon.
Since you have an RGB case, consider getting RGB fans if you want a cohesive look. Right now, it seems like you're mixing RGB and non-RGB components, which can be a bit odd. Just so you know, if you're not a fan of the RGB, you can easily turn it off.
Yeah, I was aiming for an all-black design. The RGB case was mostly due to availability and price!

I agree with the motherboard choice; the B850 might be a more sensible option. Regarding your RAM, I've noticed that 32GB is usually sufficient for gaming and regular tasks unless you really push your system with heavy applications.
