I've heard that some people build and sell PCs for profit. Is it actually possible to make money doing this, and if so, how much can you realistically earn? I'm curious if this could be a sole job instead of working as part of a team.

That's interesting! I've been tinkering with fixing "dead" parts and reselling the working ones. It takes ages and ends up costing me in tools, but I do earn a little if you break it down. It's more of a learning experience than a money-maker, though.
Honestly, it's pretty tough to profit from building PCs nowadays. Most people find it's just cheaper to buy pre-built systems than to build one themselves. Unless you've got some insane technical skills and can offer really unique customizations, it's a small niche market.
Right? Plus, if you include warranties or support, that's more of a hassle and cuts into profits.
Not really worth it for most people anymore. I've been building PCs for a while, and I mainly help friends. But trust me, service requests can pile up, and it takes time away from actually building. You might earn more by providing IT support instead.

I totally agree. The market's gotten pretty competitive, and with parts prices fluctuating, it can be hard to keep margins up.
