Hey everyone! I'm building my first PC and I want to make sure I've got a solid part list before I go ahead and spend over $3000. I'm planning to use this rig for simulation-heavy games like Cities: Skylines and Oxygen Not Included, plus some FPS games. I'm not too concerned about the in-game graphics, and I'm also experimenting with running local LLMs. I would like to have enough storage space for dual-booting Windows and Linux. I'm shipping to the US. Here's my part list:

- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor ($462.00)
- **CPU Cooler:** Thermalright Frozen Notte ARGB 72.37 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($54.90)
- **Motherboard:** Asus TUF GAMING B650E-E WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard ($162.88)
- **Memory:** Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory ($369.65)
- **Storage:** Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD ($299.99)
- **Storage:** Western Digital Blue 2 TB 3.5" 7200 RPM HDD ($79.98)
- **Video Card:** PNY OC GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB Video Card ($1289.99)
- **Case:** Lian Li LANCOOL 216 RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($102.99)
- **Power Supply:** Montech CENTURY II 1050 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX PSU ($109.90)
- **Monitor:** Asus TUF Gaming VG259QM5A 24.5" 1920 x 1080 240 Hz Monitor ($149.00)
- **Keyboard:** SteelSeries Apex 3 RGB Wired Gaming Keyboard ($49.99)
- **Mouse:** Razer Viper 8KHz Wired Optical Mouse ($64.37)
- **Headphones:** SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1 Headset ($36.49)
- **Webcam:** Logitech C270 Webcam ($16.89)

**Total:** $3249.02 (including shipping, taxes, and discounts)

You might want to reconsider that RTX 5080 for a 1080p monitor, it's overkill! If you're aiming for smooth gameplay, maybe think about downgrading to a 5060Ti. It'll still handle LLM tasks well without breaking the bank. Also, check out CPUs like the 7900X or 9950X if you're doing more productivity work—they have more cores, which can help!

Thanks for the tips! If I switch to a 1440p 240Hz monitor and downgrade to a 5070Ti, would that still be too much for my needs?

Overall, solid setup! Just a couple of changes I’d suggest: go for a Samsung Evo 990 SSD since they're reliable and affordable. For the monitor, I'd recommend checking out a different model that fits 1440p—it'll make a huge difference!

Thanks, I’ll definitely look into that and consider your monitor suggestion!

Spending that much on a PC but sticking with a 1080p monitor seems off. You should really aim for at least a 1440p or even a 4K display for that kind of investment!

Good point! I ended up getting a 1440p monitor and downgraded to a 1070Ti. Hoping it’ll be a good balance!
