About a year ago, I had a friend from the US bring me a MacBook Pro as a backup, since my own laptop was failing. I thought I would be able to use the MacBook when my laptop gave out. Now that my laptop has finally stopped working, I tried to log into the MacBook, but I can't remember the password. It also says that there's another Apple ID linked to it, which I also can't recall. I'm in a bind because the recovery options are locked after trying too many times, and now they want proof of purchase along with the serial number. Unfortunately, my friend didn't give me the proof of purchase, and now he's refusing to help me get it, especially since we lost contact after a fallout. I do have some pictures and videos from when he got the laptop at the store, but is there any way I can access my MacBook without that proof of purchase?

You might have a shot at getting a new receipt if it was purchased directly from Apple. They sometimes can reprint a copy for you, especially if you explain your situation. Since you mentioned it was bought at the Apple store in Country Club Plaza, it’s worth a try! Just be ready to provide as much info as you can about the purchase.

Yeah, definitely give it a go! Apple usually keeps records of purchases, so your chances are better if you explain everything clearly.
