Can’t Download Games on SSD Due to Corrupt Files – Help!

I recently purchased a new SSD, but I'm facing a frustrating issue with Steam. Every time I try to download or update games, I get this annoying "update/download files corrupted" error. This means I have to redownload everything every single time! I've done a lot to troubleshoot this: I ran `chkdsk /f /r` on the drive, restarted and updated Windows, formatted it to NTFS, set full permissions, cleared Steam's download cache, repaired the Steam library, verified game files, ran Steam as admin, and checked the drive with CrystalDiskInfo (which reported it's fine). For about a week, things were working fine enough to install games on the external drive, but now I'm stuck. What can I do?

There could be an issue with how certain SSDs interact with the latest Windows update. I recommend checking out some videos from Jaytwocents; he covers this problem extensively and might have insight that could help you out.

Alright, I’ll look into that, thanks!

If you're unable to install anything on your SSD or external drives without encountering corruption, it’s likely a RAM issue. I’d recommend running Memtest again just to be sure. If you do find any errors, try removing one stick of RAM at a time to identify any faulty ones. Also, a fresh Windows install might be beneficial after dealing with the RAM, just to start clean.

I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic and it showed no errors, so I think the RAM is fine. The SSD or Steam setup might be the culprit. If I can't fix this today, I may just reinstall Windows.

Have you checked the overall stability of your system? I suggest running a memory test using Memtest86. If there’s a bad stick of RAM, it could definitely lead to these types of corruptions. Fingers crossed it’s just that and not a deeper issue!

I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and found no errors, so the RAM seems to be okay. I think the issue might be with the SSD or maybe something with Steam itself.
