Can’t Erase Stolen Apple Watch from Find My – Is It Normal?

My Apple Watch was stolen by a family member, and I activated lost mode immediately. Now, I just want to erase all my data from the watch, but after hours of trying, it still shows 'erase pending'. I can see the watch's location and that it's connected to the internet, which confuses me. Why is it connected when someone has it? It's definitely in lost mode, but the erasing process isn't happening. Is this a common issue? Also, is it possible that they've accessed my settings since it's still online? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

It sounds frustrating, but if you see your watch in Find My and it's in lost mode, it means your settings are still secure. If your watch isn't cellular, it's likely using data from another Apple device nearby to keep connected. So, they can't access your Apple ID or any personal settings. As for the erase pending issue, it can sometimes take a while to process. Just keep checking back; it might go through eventually!

Thanks for the info! I was really worried they could access my stuff.

I had a similar problem with my watch once. Apple's guide on this might not seem helpful initially, but it's worth keeping an eye on it. Sometimes, erasing can just take a long time, especially if the device is in motion. Just make sure that you’re checking it regularly!
