Choosing a 2TB SSD for My Desktop: What Should I Consider?

I'm on the hunt for a second SSD for my desktop setup and I'm aiming for around 2TB. However, I don't really have a good grasp on what options are out there. Here are my PC specs just in case they help:

- CPU: Intel i5 10600K
- GPU: RTX 3060Ti
- Motherboard: Asus Prime B560-Plus
- RAM: 16GB
- Current SSD: WD Blue SN570 1TB

I'd appreciate any advice or recommendations!

Honestly, the type of SSD you choose can depend on what you need it for. If you want high performance, M.2 is the way to go. Otherwise, a SATA SSD can also work if you’re just using it for general storage. Just keep in mind that SSD prices are pretty high right now, so pick wisely!

He does have 2 slots available according to the handbook, so adding a second M.2 shouldn’t be an issue. I’d say go for whatever is cheapest from a reputable brand like WD, Samsung, or Crucial.

Since the SN570 is a PCIe 3.0 drive, you could move that to the second M.2 slot if needed. For a secondary drive primarily for files or games, even a budget-friendly model with QLC flash can work fine. The Crucial P310 or Patriot P400 Lite are both good options.

Just a heads up, now might not be the best time to buy an SSD. I got a 2TB SN850X for around $130 during Black Friday, but it's priced at $420 now! Keep an eye on deals.

For a solid choice, I'd recommend going for an NVMe M.2 SSD, particularly a Gen 3 model. Popular brands like Samsung, Western Digital Black, or Crucial are known for their reliability and longevity.
