I'm trying to decide between Action1 and NinjaOne for managing servers and remote laptops for a non-profit. The biggest factor for me is patching. If both solutions were similarly priced, which one would you recommend as the best?

They're not really on the same level. If patching is your top priority, go with Action1. I've used both, and Action1's patching is way more reliable. NinjaOne's more of a full RMM solution, but sometimes their patching misses the mark. I still use NinjaOne for alerts and its remote access, which is better when you need to log in with random passwords. But honestly, Action1's patching has outperformed others I've tried, like Intune. It's easy to set up, great community support, and you can upgrade your Windows machines without any hassle. Plus, it's free for up to 200 endpoints!
I've been using NinjaOne for a year before switching to Action1 in my new job, and there are definitely some differences. Managing updates seems similar between the two, but Action1's method for automation can feel a bit messy, especially if you're only managing a single organization. You have to create separate update rings for each organization, which might be convoluted for a small setup. However, NinjaOne offers a lot more features beyond patching. Still, if patching is your main focus, I'd recommend Action1.
You actually don't need to create organizations for each ring. You can just use groups, which makes it simpler.
