Hey everyone! I'm looking for some guidance as I upgrade from my Intel i7-10700K. I've got an RTX 4080 graphics card that I plan to keep, but I know that in order to swap out my CPU, I'll need to upgrade a lot more components, making it feel like a whole new build. I've narrowed it down to three CPUs: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 9 9900X3D, and Ryzen 9 9950X3D. In Saudi Arabia, the 9800X3D is around 2300 SAR, the 9900X3D is on sale for 2800 SAR (normal price 3100 SAR), and the 9950X3D is about 4200 SAR. I mostly play CPU-intensive simulation games like Cities Skylines, DCS, Squad, and Arma. I'm hoping to find something durable for at least 5+ years, as I'm tired of researching endlessly. Any advice?

If you're mainly gaming, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is your best bet! It's optimized for great gaming performance. However, if you need something that can handle both gaming and productivity, the 9950X3D might be worth considering since it's designed for heavier workloads. Also, the AM5 platform is good for the future as it will be supported until at least 2027!

So if I focus on gaming, what do the extra cores actually do? And how can you be sure about the 2027 support?
