Choosing Between Software Engineering and Computer Science: What’s the Best Path for My Future?

Hey everyone, I need some guidance as I'm facing a big decision this week. I'm about to start a bachelor's degree in software engineering, but I've heard that the job market may be getting saturated, especially with AI taking over some roles. I'm considering switching to a computer science degree, but I'm worried about the math involved since I've been studying medicine until now. I just want to pursue something I love and I'm planning to go to university in China. Can anyone give me advice on the best option for my future—Software Engineering or Computer Science? Also, is it okay to start a CS degree without strong math skills? Thanks a lot!

Both degrees are quite similar in terms of job opportunities. Generally, a Computer Science degree dives more into theory while Software Engineering leans towards practical skills. You’ll likely need similar math knowledge for both, but don’t worry—your program will cover the advanced math you’ll need. So, focus on which degree genuinely excites you; you'll do well in either case!
