Choosing Between Spring and Node: What Should I Do?

I'm a software engineer in India with four years of experience, primarily working on the JavaScript stack. I've noticed that companies using Spring tend to be more established and reliable, while smaller startups often look for Node developers. Currently, I'm at a startup where I've had a pretty rough experience, whereas my friends who work with Java have seen better job offers and lifestyles. This has led me to question my path: should I aim for another small startup with my Node skills, or is it worth it to learn Spring and switch to a more stable company? I also had a recent interaction with a startup that claims to work on blockchain and quantum computing, but their online presence is minimal, which makes me wary. What do you think I should do?

Honestly, the whole 'we have many clients' line from that startup sounds super sketchy. You're right to be cautious, especially since they only have a LinkedIn page and no real info. It’s essential to do your due diligence before jumping into something that could end up being a dead end.

Totally! It felt like they were trying way too hard to sell you on the idea without even confirming your technical skills. Red flags galore!

I work at a large corporation, and we use a mix of tech stacks. While there are plenty of projects running on Java, others are leveraging Kotlin and Python too. I think it could be beneficial to diversify your skills beyond just JavaScript. Checking job portals for in-demand stacks in your area will help you identify what to learn next. Just relying on Node might not be the best approach in the long run.

I've noticed Java as the most sought after stack on LinkedIn, too. I get your struggle; sharpening your Node skills is tempting, but investing time in learning Spring could open up better opportunities.
