Choosing the Right GPU for 1440p Gaming: RTX 3060, 3060 Ti, or 5060?

Hey folks! I'm about to buy a new GPU and I could really use your help. Here's a bit about my setup: I have an Intel i3 10100 CPU and a 550W MSI A550BN power supply. I'm looking to game at 1440p (2K) with High to Ultra settings. The GPUs I'm considering are: RTX 3060 with 12GB for around 100K, RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB for 120K, and the new RTX 5060 with 8GB for 140K. There's about a 20K (~65 USD) difference between each GPU. I've got a few questions: Which GPU would be best for 1440p gaming on my setup? Is it worth going for the 3060 Ti or the 5060 given the loss in VRAM? And will my 550W PSU handle any of these GPUs safely? I primarily play AAA story-driven games along with some competitive ones. I'm really focused on having smooth gameplay and stability, not just chasing peak FPS. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I'd suggest the RTX 3060 with 12GB since it has the best VRAM for 1440p at High/Ultra settings. Just note that your CPU might hold you back a bit.

If you're looking at those options, the 5060 might be faster, but it comes with the VRAM challenge. Consider investing in a better card long-term or even downgrading your expectations for a smoother experience.

The 3060 is the only one here with the right amount of VRAM for decent 1440p performance. However, be prepared for some compromises due to your overall system specs.

Honestly, none of these cards are ideal for 1440p at 144Hz Ultra settings. Although the 3060 will handle the VRAM demands better, it is the slowest option. You might want to save up for a more powerful GPU down the line.

If you're strictly gaming, you might want to consider something like the 9060 XT instead. Don't settle for the 5060; it's better to invest a bit more for a solid card.

Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't thought of that card.
