I'm looking to install Linux on my laptop, which has a 6th generation i7 CPU, an Nvidia GeForce 920mx, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB SATA SSD. I mainly use it for web browsing, Open Office, light gaming, and video editing. Windows has been causing issues for me, so I'm hoping to find a Linux distro that's suitable for my needs without a steep learning curve, especially since the only Linux I've used is on my Steam Deck. Any recommendations?

I would recommend MX Linux. It's a Debian-based distro that comes with a convenient Nvidia installer, which works really well. Plus, since you have lots of RAM, you could go for the KDE version for a nice interface.
I'd say Mint is a great choice for ease of use. It's pretty beginner-friendly and has a good setup for most tasks. Just make sure to check if your Wi-Fi and other components work with the installation media before you commit! You can follow the installation guide on the Linux Mint website for help.
Honestly, most distros can handle your tasks just fine. If you're looking for a Windows-like experience, consider using something with the KDE Plasma desktop. Both Fedora KDE and Kubuntu are solid options that come with that desktop environment right away.
Check out this tool I found that helps you choose a distro based on your preferences: [Distrohoop](https://github.com/br0sinski/distrohoop). It might give you some more tailored options!
