Choosing the Right Monitor for Online School

My son is in high school and needs a larger monitor than his laptop for online classes. He spends a lot of time on screen, and I want to do a desk mount setup. His desk space is 38 1/2 inches wide. Should I go for two 19-inch monitors there, or is it better to get one larger monitor? I'm hoping to stick to a budget of under $300 for one monitor, but if we need two, we can stretch it to over $309 total. It would be great if he could have his reading open on one screen and notes on the other since he had a tough time back and forth last year. Any suggestions?

Honestly, having two monitors can boost productivity, but 19 inches is pretty cramped. Maybe look for a single larger monitor around 24 inches to give him some breathing room. You can find budget-friendly options, like cheap monitors on Amazon for under $100. For instance, I got a 24-inch model for a great price and have been really happy with it!

Thanks for the suggestions! Just curious, what exactly is a vertical monitor best for? Can he use it to read while typing on the other?
