I'm in the process of building a powerful gaming rig with a 9950x3d CPU, a 5090 Suprim SOC GPU, 10 Lian Li LCD fans, and a Tryx AIO cooler. I've been considering a few power supply options: the Asus Thor 3 1200W, MSI MEG AI1300P PCIE5 1300W, and the Seasonic PRIME TX-1300. I'm looking for some advice on which one would be the best fit. Also, I have a potential concern—should I consider a 1600W PSU instead?

I'd personally lean towards the Seasonic. They have a solid reputation for reliability and performance. A 1300W PSU should be sufficient for your rig, but if your budget allows, a 1600W might give you peace of mind for future upgrades!
Look for a PSU with dual 12V connectors for future cards; it’ll give you flexibility later. Just a heads up though, it can be difficult to find ones with those specs these days.
Same here! I’m struggling to find PSUs that have the 12v2x6. It seems like manufacturers aren't updating their listings at all.
If you're considering the MSI MEG Ai1600T, it's a great choice. It might be overkill, but if you can afford it, more power is always nice for future upgrades.
I see your point about efficiency. Brands touting performance at 50% load makes it tempting to go bigger for stability!
Just pick whichever PSU you prefer! With your budget, price shouldn't be a significant issue. Maybe check out the Lian Li-edge for added USB ports if that's a plus for you!
Going for a 1600W PSU isn't a bad idea, especially if your 9950X3D is pulling around 300W. Plus, if you have a high-end motherboard, RAM, and NVMe drives, extra headroom can be beneficial. All three PSUs you mentioned are top-notch quality, so you really can't go wrong with any of them!
I had a setup similar to yours! Your components should work fine on 1300W, but I get your point about efficiency at lower loads. Just ensure you have a quality PSU to match your build.
Will running the PSU near its maximum capacity (like 90-100%) affect performance? I’ve heard some concerns about efficiency drops.
