Hey everyone! I'm diving into some research about the health issues programmers often deal with—both physical and mental. This includes problems like joint pain, eye strain, anxiety, migraines, sleep disorders, and anything else that comes to mind. It's surprising how little attention this topic gets, and I'd love to hear your experiences.
So, have you noticed any health conditions as a result of long hours in front of the computer? What steps are you taking to cope, and what advice would you give to up-and-coming programmers to help them steer clear of these issues?

Anxiety is a huge issue for me too, and it escalated to hypertension, creating some heart problems. Plus, I’ve noticed a lot of gray hairs popping up lately!
I've managed to avoid most physical ailments from coding, but mentally it's a different story. I often feel anxious about where this career is heading. It doesn't help that I know a lot of what I create will likely be seen as technical debt after it launches, which can be super depressing.
I've struggled with anxiety, intermittent insomnia, and some depression. I also deal with lower back pain and arthritis in my wrist, which I think are definitely tied to all the programming I've done. Those other issues mostly come from life stressors, though.
I can relate to that! The anxiety made me take on four freelance jobs at once, which financially is great, but it's definitely taking a toll on my mental health.
