Comparing CTU and WGU for a Software Engineering Degree

Hey everyone! I've been diving into my options for online colleges and I'm considering CTU and WGU since my employer will cover the tuition for either. I'm looking to pursue a Software Engineering degree to help me switch careers at 45. I've previously studied Comp Sci over 20 years ago but haven't kept up much since. I can do a bit of coding in Python, but I'm rusty on theory and data structures. I'd love to hear any insights you have on the programs at CTU versus WGU!

I can't speak about CTU, but I can definitely recommend WGU for certain learning styles. They have a competency-based approach which means if you know the material already, you can test out of some classes. Plus, you can progress at your own pace, so if you pick things up quickly, you can finish your degree in 1-2 years. Just a heads-up, if you need a lot of academic support like tutoring or study groups, WGU might not be the best fit for you.

From my perspective, universities typically fall into three categories: top-tier schools for CS, most public/private universities, and then primarily online institutions like CTU and WGU. The latter two are fairly similar in reputation, so your choice might not matter too much as long as you steer clear of diploma mills. Just focus on what kind of structure you need for your learning.
