Hey folks! I recently ordered a Ryzen 9 9900X for my new build, along with an ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi motherboard and a 5070 ti. After doing some reading, I found reports suggesting that the 9000-series Ryzen CPUs may have compatibility issues with ASRock B650 boards. This has me a bit worried. Has anyone here used this specific setup? Also, could you suggest alternative motherboards at a similar price that are definitely compatible with the 9900X? Or should I consider switching to a different CPU altogether?

I’m not sure what your setup is for or where you’re located, but ASRock claimed they fixed the issue, so you might be okay. That said, the safest bet would probably be to opt for a different brand. If you’re in the US, check out the MSI PRO B650-A WIFI motherboard for around $150. It’s got a lot of USB ports and a robust VRM, so it can handle any AM5 CPU. If you’re considering a B850 board, the Gigabyte B850 GAMING X WIFI6E for about $180 is a solid choice too, though not quite as nice as the MSI.
Thanks for the tip about the MSI board! It’s actually 20€ cheaper than the ASRock here in Germany. Do you know if there are any disadvantages compared to the Steel Legend WiFi?
