Hey everyone! I'm thinking about buying some PWM fan extension cables, specifically this one: https://www.microcenter.com/product/610175/micro-connectors-pwm-sleeved-fan-extension-cable-30cm-(1181-inches)-black. My confusion is around the fact that while I know PWM fans use a 4-pin connector, this cable has a 4-pin male end but a 3-pin female end? The pictures don't clarify this, but the description suggests it. Does this mean the cable isn't really PWM? I've seen other options online that clearly list 4 pins on both ends.

The image looks correct, so it might just be a slip in the description. No worries!
When you say '4 holes on the female side,' you're confirming it's really 4-pin, right? That can't just be a three-pin layout?
It’s likely just a typo. The image shows 4 pins on both ends, and nobody seems to think it’s missing the PWM/tach line based on the comments.
So, because there are 4 holes on the female side, that generally means it’s a true 4-pin? It wouldn't just be 3 pins dressed up as 4 holes, right? (Hope that makes sense!)

Exactly! It also mentions LP4, which is actually an old Molex power connector. Just keep an eye on the picture instead.
