Confused About RAM Compatibility When Switching from Intel to AMD

I'm in the process of building a new PC and I've run into some confusion regarding my RAM. Currently, I have a full-size ATX build with an Intel i7 13700k, but I'm looking to switch to a more compact MFF build using a Lian Li A3 case for better portability. While I could stick with an mATX motherboard for my Intel CPU, I'm actually considering switching to AMD and getting a 7800X3D. My main concern is my RAM: I have 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM (CMH32GX5M2B6000C30W) that seems primarily geared towards Intel XMP. I'm worried that if I switch to AMD, I won't be able to utilize the Expo profiles. I'm hesitant to buy a new RAM kit for this. Am I worrying too much, or should I just stay with Intel for now?

You shouldn't have a problem! AMD boards can read XMP profiles, so your Corsair RAM should be compatible. Just make sure you check the motherboard's QVL (Qualified Vendor List) for the best results. If you run into issues, you can always set the timings manually in the BIOS.

You're probably overthinking this. Most recent AMD motherboards have no trouble with Intel's XMP profiles, so there's a very good chance your RAM will work just fine. It's worth checking the motherboard specs to be sure, but it should be smooth sailing!

I was in a similar situation with my build using the same RAM for a Ryzen 9800X3D setup. I read that many users have had success with Intel XMP RAM on AMD boards. Just keep an eye on the motherboard compatibility list, and you’ll likely be all set!

Exactly! And if it turns out you need to tweak things, at least you can adjust the settings manually. Just do a little research on the board you want.
