We're facing big issues with inconsistent connectivity to both cloud and internal applications across our offices. Some team members log in without a hitch, while others deal with frustrating timeouts and lag. It's really hampering our productivity!
With offices in the UK and Asia, we have various ISPs and a mix of wired and Wi-Fi setups. We've already switched VPNs (like Cisco AnyConnect), adjusted firewall settings, and even tried using Google DNS, but the situation remains unpredictable. It tends to get worse during busy hours, and even within a single office, some users enjoy smooth access while others don't.
We're experiencing connection timeouts and slow logins that can last 10-20 seconds, but there are no major outages reported by the app providers. We also attempted bypassing VPNs and keeping software updated, but nothing seems to work.
Could this all be a DNS issue, something with ISP routing, or something else entirely? Has anyone figured this out before?

It sounds like your connectivity issues might be more related to network performance. You could run a constant ping test to check if the connectivity drops when users have trouble logging in.
Have you checked for any possible DNS misconfigurations? Sometimes, if the DNS settings are off, it can really screw up connectivity. Maybe switching to a different DNS provider could solve some of the issues?
But it was DNS for me last time, so it’s worth exploring!
Since you mentioned you've been switching VPNs and tweaking firewalls, what has your network admin said about these changes? Any insights there?
Also, don’t forget about potential security software issues. Overly aggressive firewall settings or antivirus programs can sometimes block access to the apps you need.
I don't think that's it. I really doubt it's a DNS issue.
