Considering a PC Upgrade for Better FPS in Esports Games

I'm thinking about upgrading my PC to improve performance, especially for esports titles like Valorant and CS2. My current setup includes a Ryzen 7 5800x, MSI B550M Mortar, Gigabyte 9060XT with 16GB, and 32GB T-Force Delta RAM at 3600MHz. I've got an 800W Silver 80+ PSU as well. I want to enhance my FPS and overall performance for any game, plus use it for some basic work. Is it worth jumping directly to AM5?

If you're mainly playing games like CS2, Valorant, Rust, or Warzone, you likely don’t need a new chip just yet. I'm using a 9800x3d with my 9060XT, and it works perfectly for my 1080p 280Hz monitor. Yeah, the 9060XT can be a bit mid-range and may bottleneck the CPU at higher resolutions, but for competitive play, it should serve you well.

I’m a top-tier player in Valorant and CS2, so trust me, I know the struggle! I'm getting a new vv4 pro mouse soon, will that help reduce polling rate stutters for me?

You might want to consider an x3d chip instead of jumping to AM5. If you're targeting better gaming performance, that should give you most of the advantage for your needs.

I recently got a 1080p 360Hz monitor and I'm trying to make the most of it. I mainly play Valorant and CS2, and while I hit the target fps, it dips below 200 during intense moments.

Is your current performance really that bad? The 5800x should handle 120 fps or more in AAA titles without a problem. What resolution are you playing at? If it’s 4K, I can see your frustration, but on 1080p, the 5800x is still a viable chip.

Yeah, I play in 1080p and I mainly focus on Valorant and CS2. I just feel disappointed when my frames drop to around 200+. It seems like it can't keep up with my new 360Hz monitor.
