I'm 18 and heading to university, and I've been a console gamer my whole life. Right now, I've got a MacBook for school, but I'm thinking about getting a PC for gaming too. I usually play games like Valorant and Siege, and I want to start playing CS. If I have a budget between £800 to £900, do you think that's sufficient, or should I hold off and save a bit more?

It really depends on whether you already have your gaming peripherals sorted out. If you need to buy a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, that can add up. For example, a decent monitor can cost you around $100-150. If you're going for higher resolutions, it'll be more. I have a 5060ti and a Ryzen 7 5800XT, and I get smooth performance on Siege at 1440p.
For sure, having good peripherals can make a big difference in gaming experience!
Think about where your friends play. If most of them are on PS5, it might be worth sticking with it to play together. Personally, I've loved PC gaming for ages. I've got a huge library on Steam, and it feels like my games will last longer than consoles, which end up obsolete after a generation or two.
That's a good point! I mostly game on PS with my buddies on Valorant but play Siege with my PC stack. Thanks for the perspective!
Your budget looks pretty good for a midrange solid PC. You could definitely build something that can handle those games with decent settings. Just be sure to check out some builds online as there are great resources that can guide you to the best parts for your budget.
With around £350, you can grab a solid graphics card, and you'd need about £500 for the rest of the build, including the CPU, RAM, and parts. That said, you'll want to set aside some budget for peripherals. If you plan on playing games at good settings, you might want to save up a bit more or look into used parts if that's an option for you.
The PS5 will not be part of that budget since I want to keep it for exclusives. But I'm open to selling it if it makes a huge difference. Thanks for the advice!

I’ve got a Samsung Odyssey G5 and a HyperX Cloud 3 headset, so I just need a keyboard and mouse. Appreciate the tip!
