Considering an Intel i7 12700K for my RTX 5070 Ti – Any Bottleneck Issues?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC and I currently have an RTX 5070 Ti graphics card. I also have a Gigabyte Z790 motherboard, but I'm unsure if I should go for an Intel Core i7 12700K processor, as I've heard there might be bottleneck issues. Can anyone provide insights on whether this combination would cause a bottleneck in performance? Also, how will it perform for rendering and video editing since that's my main use case?

Bottleneck calculators aren't really reliable. What CPU do you have right now? And it sounds like you have a Z790 board just sitting there? What's your budget and what do you actually plan to use the PC for?

Is the bottleneck real? How is that measured? I bought the Z790 first too, didn't think it through!

Forget about bottleneck calculators; they're not useful. The 12700K is a solid choice, especially with recent price drops. Just make sure to undervolt it a bit and use a good cooler like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE or Peerless Assassin 140, and you should be all set!

Are you positive about this? Is the i7 good for rendering and video editing? Any other processor suggestions?

The i7 12700K will likely hold back the 5070 Ti a bit at 1080p and some at 1440p, but it's not a huge issue. You might want to look into how much that affects your rendering and video editing needs. I use a 13600K with the same GPU.

This PC isn't for gaming; it's more for rendering and video work. Is that setup good?

There's always going to be some form of bottleneck in a system. Do you already have the Z790 mobo without a CPU yet?

Yeah, I bought the motherboard first haha!
