Hey everyone! I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU. Right now, I have a Ryzen 9 3900XT paired with an ASUS Rog Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard. I'm looking at two options: the Ryzen 7 5800 and the Ryzen 7 5700X3D. Are these good choices for my setup?

Both of those CPUs are solid picks! However, the Ryzen 7 5800 is a bit overpriced and not in production anymore. I’d suggest going with the 5700X3D instead, especially since it’s significantly cheaper and still delivers great performance.
If gaming is your main focus, the 5700X3D is a few percentage points better for that purpose. But for general use, the 3900XT shines in most scenarios. Also, it might be worth considering saving up for an AM5 upgrade—like the 7600—since it performs comparably to the 5700X3D. Just keep in mind the GPU you have; if you’re using something like an RTX 2070 or 3060, the performance difference won’t be as noticeable between the CPUs.
My GPU is a 3070, so I guess I should look at how much of a difference that makes!
