Hey everyone! I built my rig about 2.5 years ago, mainly to play Fortnite at 1440p 165Hz. My current setup includes a 6650XT, an R5 5600, and 32GB of RAM. While it runs decently, I want to upgrade to improve performance and future-proof it a bit for new games that might catch my interest. I'm leaning towards upgrading my GPU soon, but I'm wondering what a solid upgrade from the 6650XT would be. Is now a good time to buy, or should I hold off for a better selection later? Also, would considering a CPU upgrade make sense, especially with the 5700X3D going cheaper? Or should I keep my current CPU for a couple more years until I build a new rig? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Honestly, if you're happy with your 5600, keeping it isn't the worst plan. Upgrading to a newer GPU in the $700 range seems excessive, especially if you don’t game much. The current setup is fine; sometimes it’s better to keep things simple and just enhance what you have instead of chasing every new release.
If you stick with the R5 5600, the 9060XT at around $350-400 is a good fit for 1440p. However, if you decide to upgrade to the 5700X3D, consider the 9070XT instead, even though it costs way more (about $700-800). But if you’re looking for long-term viability, going to an AM5 setup with a 7700X might be a better choice, even if it’s pricier now.
Upgrading to a 5700X3D is a solid choice! It’ll give you a nice performance boost, particularly for Fortnite. For your GPU, I'd recommend the 9060XT 16GB. It should easily handle 1440p and last at least three years. Plus, it's a more reasonable jump in power from your current card without going overboard on price. It’ll really enhance your FPS!
Thanks! Quick question - what’s a reasonable price for the 9060XT these days?
Thanks for that! I’m not gaming too much, so I think the 9070XT might be overkill for my needs. How does it compare to the 9060XT in terms of performance?
