Could a 400W power supply be causing my computer not to turn on?

I'm having trouble getting my computer to power on, and I'm wondering if my 400W power supply could be the issue. I've tested it with an i3 10100f paired with a GTX 1050 Ti and it booted up fine. I also tried it with an RTX 3060 Ti, and it worked without any problems. However, when I tested the i5 10100f with the GTX 1050 Ti, it booted normally, but it didn't boot with the RTX 3060. Is the power supply the culprit here?

A 3060 typically requires a minimum of 550W, so your 400W PSU might just not cut it if you want stable performance.

Looks like I need to look for a better PSU then, lol!

For a 3060, the recommended minimum is around 550W. Ideally, you should consider a 650W power supply, especially if you're planning any future upgrades like a more powerful CPU.

Got it, thanks for the advice!

Yes, that could definitely be a factor.

Ok, thanks for the heads-up!

That power supply might not be sufficient. If it was only shutting down or struggling during heavy loads, you might have had a power issue.

Not really; if your system booted with the 3060 Ti, the PSU shouldn't be the problem. If you’re having issues, it could just be a dead RTX 3060. Maybe test it on another PC to confirm?
