What do you all think about the potential of AGI to help us achieve significant strides in biological rejuvenation by around 2050? Currently, life expectancy is only increasing by about 0.2 to 0.3 years per decade in developed nations. Unless we experience groundbreaking advancements, AGI might be our best hope for achieving a longevity escape velocity. Some biologists view age rejuvenation as a possibility, albeit speculative, but they aren't sure why it can't be done. Additionally, if breakthroughs do occur, could resource limitations and overpopulation concerns delay their implementation? When do you think AGI might solve these challenges, and would it be accessible to everyone?

I think it’s plausible but would caution that biological immortality seems tricky. We should focus first on creating digital twins of ourselves to tackle mortality caused by disease and accidents. Actual immortality might be tough, but I believe we can significantly reduce aging and natural death—maybe by 2060 or 2080.
I'm a believer in Kurzweil's predictions, which place the singularity at 2045. Essentially, that’s when we might gain capabilities that seem like magic!
I believe we could see breakthroughs much sooner—perhaps by 2035. The pace of progress is astounding and accelerating rapidly. Just recently, a significant milestone was achieved in this field!
What milestone are you talking about?
Yeah, I’ve heard about some advancements, but I’m curious what you think they’ve cracked.
In my opinion, real progress in life expectancy will come from genetic editing—not just fixing bad genes but enhancing them with superior options.
I think epigenetics has the key to rejuvenation rather than just manipulating the genetic code. But improving our genome would definitely be a huge benefit!
Instead of worrying about AGI just prolonging our lives, one day it might let us rewind time and relive our youth endlessly! Manipulating time could be just around the corner.
If that's true, then maybe you're experiencing it right now!
It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Even solutions that extend healthy life by 5 or 10 years by the 2030s sound promising!
