Could My Computer Be Hacked? What Should I Do Next?

Hey everyone! I've been using some games and applications stored on an external drive lately because I barely have anything on my main OS. I don't store logins or anything important, just some YouTube and TikTok, but I started to have these weird issues that made me think my computer might be compromised. I noticed multiple Firefox windows opening randomly and some strange flickering on my screen. I couldn't run a scan at that moment, so I shut everything down, unplugged my PC, and disconnected the WiFi to be safe. This morning it seemed fine, but following some advice, I ran Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro, plus an offline scan with Windows, and found nothing suspicious. I removed a few things just to be sure, but now I'm left wondering what to do next. My system feels slightly slower than usual, but it could just be my imagination. I changed my passwords and checked my sessions, and everything seems normal. Any tips or advice on what I should do from here? Thanks for the help!

If you suspect there’s malware on your computer, it’s important to treat the situation seriously. Typically, if you believe your system may have been hacked, the safest course of action is to wipe and reinstall the OS. That way, you can ensure any hidden malware is completely removed. Even if you didn't find anything with the scans, starting fresh can give you peace of mind.

Ahh, I get that. But I can’t afford a new Windows 11 right now. How do I go about wiping and reinstalling the OS when I'm ready?
