Could My CPU Be Failing?

Hey everyone, I've been experiencing some strange video issues with my PC. There are weird green lines and black dots all over the screen, and it sometimes goes completely black for a few seconds. I don't have a dedicated GPU, just relying on the integrated graphics (iGPU). I'm wondering if this means my CPU might be shot, or if there's something else going on?

I've experienced similar issues when the monitor cable wasn’t properly connected. Also, check if the video ports on your monitor or PC are worn out. Sometimes it’s just a loose connection!

You might want to consider that your monitor could also be the culprit. While I don't typically use integrated graphics, artifacting and those green lines usually indicate a failure somewhere. Maybe check the monitor itself?

Your issue might actually be related to bad RAM. I recommend running Memtest86—it can really help determine if your RAM is causing the problem.

It sounds like your CPU or iGPU might be having issues. But don't overlook the possibility of problems with your RAM or motherboard, especially since the iGPU uses system RAM as VRAM. Try checking the temperatures, testing the RAM, and reinstalling the drivers. If you notice these artifacts before Windows even boots up, that’s a big hint that there’s a hardware failure.

First, check your BIOS version and the drivers for your integrated graphics. Did these issues start happening recently? Also, monitor temperatures and if possible, test with another monitor. We don’t want to jump to conclusions about the CPU being dead just yet!

Haha, it’s actually a 5th gen CPU. I’m just trying to make it work until I can save for something better. I reseated the RAM, and that seems to have fixed it!
