Did I accidentally break my HP Pavilion laptop?

I recently opened up my HP Pavilion gaming laptop 15 out of curiosity to see its internal parts. While I was inside, I found a black rectangle with the HP logo and the word 'Pavilion' on it. Not knowing what it was, I disconnected it from its wires and opened it up. After reassembling everything exactly as it was, my laptop won't turn on, and the charging indicator light isn't even lighting up. Did I mess something up, and can I fix it myself?

What's the exact model number? Knowing that can help others in the community give more specific advice.

Sounds like that black rectangle is your storage drive. When working inside laptops, it's really important to make sure you're grounded to avoid static damage. Also, did any fans spin when you were checking things out? That might help diagnose the issue.

If you had the battery connected while poking around, it's possible you shorted something. I’d suggest taking the laptop to a repair shop if you're not comfortable fixing it yourself. They can properly inspect any issues caused.
