Did I Install Malicious Docker Software?

I was in a hurry and installed Docker from the first link that popped up in my search. Unfortunately, that link led me to a suspicious download for Docker Desktop which contained 'apitoken' in the URL. After running the installer, nothing happened after I accepted the User Account Control pop-up. Now I'm really concerned because a PowerShell window opened by itself. I realize now I've probably made a mistake, but how serious is this? Is it definitely from a malicious source? What steps can I take to check if my system is compromised?

I recommend you do a Clean Install of Windows. Don’t attempt to just reset or repair it. Follow the instructions to create a bootable USB drive using the Windows Media Creation Tool. Make sure to delete all existing partitions and let the setup create new ones. This will give you the cleanest start.

Honestly, it sounds like you might have downloaded malware, especially with a URL like that. The PowerShell window opening by itself is definitely a red flag. I'd suggest running a full scan with Malwarebytes and also using Windows Defender to check for any threats. Until you're completely sure your system is clean, avoid using it for anything sensitive like passwords or banking.

If you're worried about your personal data, it's wise to back it up before the clean install. However, be cautious, as there's a chance the files could get corrupted. Only transfer what you absolutely need and scan the files separately before putting them back on a clean system.
