Did I Make a Mistake Buying a Slower NVMe for My First PC Build?

I'm building my first PC and made a mistake by choosing a slower NVMe SSD. I went for a cheaper option with lower speeds compared to others I considered. While shopping, many faster drives were sold out, so I picked one from a familiar brand. My main use will be gaming and general tasks. Is this a bad choice, and should I return it for a faster drive?

Can you share the model and brand of the NVMe you bought? Knowing that helps in determining if it's a reliable choice. Generally, if it's from a known brand, it should perform well enough for gaming.

If you're mainly gaming or not frequently moving large files around, your choice should be fine. I have multiple drives, and honestly, I can't tell which one is faster when launching games or apps.

Don't worry too much about the lower sequential speeds. It's like having a car that can hit 200mph, but you only drive it at 60mph. For gaming and casual use, you likely won't notice a difference unless you do heavy file transfers regularly.

Exactly! As long as it's an SSD—and not an older, slower type—you'll be just fine most of the time.

It's probably not a big deal. NVMe drives are still much faster than SATA SSDs. For general use and gaming, differences in these speeds are minimal, and you might never feel it unless you're doing something very demanding.
