Did I mess up by pairing a 5070 Ti with an i5-13400F?

Hey all! I think I may have made a mistake with my recent PC upgrade. I combined an RTX 5070 Ti with an i5-13400F processor and 32GB of DDR4 RAM on a Gigabyte B760 motherboard. I've noticed that in games like COD and ARC Raiders, I'm experiencing significantly lower FPS compared to my friends who have the same GPU but different CPUs. I'm now uncertain about my next steps and am considering options like these: 1) Should I invest in a better CPU? 2) Is a motherboard change necessary? 3) Would it be worth switching from DDR4 to DDR5 despite the higher cost? Any insights would be appreciated!

Could you share the exact model of your motherboard? If it's entry level, that might cause issues with power delivery to higher-end CPUs. Also, going up to 1440p could improve your FPS; I had a similar experience with a 12400F and 4070 combo.

Honestly, everyone has different performance based on their own setups. If you're happy with how your games run, that’s what matters! But if you're really feeling the need for better performance, think about upgrading to something like a 9800x3d, along with a new motherboard and RAM.

What kind of FPS are you aiming for? And what resolution and refresh rate does your monitor have? It would also help to know what your friends are running. Every little detail, like RAM speed, can make a difference here!

At 1440p, you shouldn't really be facing a CPU bottleneck with that setup. Maybe the issue lies elsewhere, but you could check your settings to see if something is off.

If you're playing competitive games with all the settings maxed out, you're likely hitting a CPU bottleneck. It’s better to optimize your settings to get higher FPS if that’s your goal.
