Did I ruin my laptop while repasting it?

I have a ROG Zephyrus G14 that was overheating, so I decided to repaste the thermal compound. I went to my boyfriend's house for help since he recently did a similar job on his PC. Everything went smoothly during the reassembly, but when I tried to turn it on, the power light flickered and it sounded like it was attempting to start but didn't. I thought the battery might be dead, so I plugged it into the power supply, and the charging light came on for a few seconds before turning off again. Now the laptop isn't responding at all. I really hope I didn't damage it. I even held the power button for about 30 seconds while it was plugged in, but no luck. If you need specific pictures or details, just let me know!

It sounds like you're dealing with a tricky situation! I suggest trying a hard reset. Open the laptop back up, disconnect the battery, and then press and hold the power button for about a minute. Just be careful that everything is properly grounded when doing repairs. If the battery was connected during the repaste, there's a chance something could've gotten damaged on the motherboard, and you might need to take it to a repair shop for a check-up.

Just to clarify, when I take the backplate off, I should disconnect the battery and hold the power button while the back is still open, right? Should I keep it plugged in as well?
