Did I wait too long to buy a 5700X3D?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC before Battlefield 6 arrives, and I want to stick with the AM4 platform since I have 32GB of RAM and an RTX 3070. The 5700X3D seems like the ideal choice for me, but I've noticed prices are quite high at UK retailers and Aliexpress, generally above £230. Do you think there's any chance the prices will drop again?

I switched from a 5600X to the 5800X3D, and while I'm happy with my choice, transitioning to AM5 sounds like a good move too since AM4 is pretty much done. Prices can get high for AM4 gear now that DDR4 production has also stopped.

I just can’t believe how fast these prices shot up. I got my 5700X3D for £120 last Christmas, and now they’re so much harder to find and more expensive! If you want solid performance, consider selling your current setup and switching to AM5.

It’s unlikely we’ll see prices drop. Production of the AM4 X3D chips ended last year, so the available stock is limited now. Just a heads up though, the 5500X3D and 5600X3D are still being made if you're considering alternatives.

Yeah, I’ve heard that too. They might just be using leftover cores now, but they’re options!

If you're struggling to find an X3D chip, the 5800X is decent and usually cheaper. I found mine on the used market for around $200 CAD last month, which was a good deal!

That's a good tip! I may look into the used market if prices don't budge.

Honestly, it seems like you might have missed your chance. AMD announced the end of 5700X3D production recently, so I don’t expect the prices to drop anytime soon.
