Did my brother ruin my new Ryzen processor by dropping the box?

Hey everyone! I just bought a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, and while I was bringing it home, my younger brother accidentally dropped the box on the floor. I wasn't mad since accidents happen, but I'm really curious about how this might affect the processor. I inspected the box and it seemed fine, with the cover intact. However, I can't test it yet since the rest of my PC parts won't arrive for another week. What are the chances that the processor is damaged?

I dropped my launch day 9800X3D box once too. Didn't even think twice about it, and everything worked perfectly! You'll likely be fine!

You're definitely good! It's likely that the CPU endured far worse drops during shipping. A 3-foot drop is nothing in comparison. I wouldn’t worry at all!

I'd say it's zero. Processors are pretty durable, especially in their packaging. Unless he dropped it from a crazy height, it's likely just fine!

Wow. Are they really that strong? :0

Honestly, you're probably in the clear! Those boxes can take a lot more than a little drop. I've dropped boxes harder than that, and everything turned out fine. Don't stress too much about it!

Thank you bro. I appreciate it.

Actually, processors are quite sturdy. The new AM5 chips have most of the delicate parts on the motherboard, so as long as you didn't drop it from extreme heights, it should be okay!
