Did My Wi-Fi Password Change Itself or Could It Be Hacked?

This morning I noticed that my phone disconnected from the Wi-Fi while I was listening to music, despite the signal being strong. When I tried to reconnect, it said the password was wrong, even though I know it was correct. I had a family member set up the router, and they aren't very tech-savvy, so I doubt they changed anything. My computer was fine for a while but then got disconnected too. I'm wondering if someone could have hacked my Wi-Fi connection. I'm planning to reset the router later, but I'd love to hear any thoughts or advice on what might be going on!

Make sure you're not using the default username and password that came with the router. Those are usually easy to guess. Changing it to something more secure can help prevent unauthorized access. If your family's been using something easier to remember, keep that in mind!

We actually changed the password to something personal, and it’s significant to us, so I doubt anyone else would guess it. I think the username is still the default Xfinity one that came with it.

Sometimes it's just a glitch! Try rebooting the router. A lot of times, a lack of stability can cause it to incorrectly say the password is wrong. It's worth a shot before panicking about hacking!

If someone in your family has access to the Xfinity app or account, they could easily change the password without knowing it. Given that family has the credentials, that’s probably more likely than a hacker getting in.

I’m not sure if they changed it since they were busy then. I’ll have to check.
