Hey everyone! I heard that the latest stable BIOS from Intel has fixed significant problems with the 13th and 14th generation CPUs, making them much safer to use. I'm curious if this means it's possible to use more powerful processors on lower-end motherboards than usual. I'm not referring to the H610; I'm thinking about better motherboards. Am I missing something here?

Yes, the latest BIOS with the 0x12F microcode has fixed the frying issue where 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs would overheat, especially under light loads. Intel even extended warranties on these CPUs from 3 to 5 years because of this problem. So, buying these CPUs now is generally safe as long as you update the BIOS immediately. However, this BIOS fix doesn’t mean you can just slap a powerful i9 14900K onto a weak motherboard without issues—especially those with poor VRMs.

True, it won’t fix the problems with installing high-end CPUs on weak boards! Just updating the BIOS doesn’t magically make everything compatible.
