I'm curious about whether DevOps folks typically use LocalStack, especially in conjunction with Terraform or other tools. I haven't tried it yet and would like to explore its benefits and drawbacks. What are your experiences?

As someone in Ops, I don’t personally use LocalStack. We have a dedicated test account for our infrastructure. However, our developers utilize LocalStack before their code makes it to our environment, which helps with early testing.
I've found LocalStack handy for running local tests with mocked AWS endpoints. It's definitely helped streamline my development process!
I dabble with LocalStack at home on my personal setup, and I think it’s decent for casual use. Not something I rely on heavily, but it gets the job done.
I’d recommend using a sandbox AWS account instead. LocalStack can mimic a lot of AWS services, but it never matches AWS perfectly, and some features can end up costing money. It’s fine for initial testing but not a full replacement.
