I'm planning to install a new operating system, specifically Linux Mint, and I'm curious about the data on my laptop. If I proceed with a clean installation and choose not to dual boot, will all my files be permanently deleted? Also, if my laptop potentially has viruses, will those be completely removed as well?

If you choose the option to erase the entire disk during installation, then yes, everything will be wiped clean. Just make sure to back up any important files you want to keep while you're in the live session before installing.
But what if some of those backed-up files are infected?
