Hey everyone! I'm wondering if it's necessary to keep the BitLocker recovery key if I've already made a backup of my C drive. I'm using Windows 11 on a Lenovo Ideapad Pro 5 16IMH9. I've been trying to boot Linux Mint from a USB, but each time it goes to the BitLocker recovery screen. Thankfully, Windows booted up fine on its own, and all my files are safe. I'm just concerned that I might face BitLocker issues again down the line. So, should I really hold onto that recovery key, or is my backup sufficient? Thanks for any advice!

If you're only using one USB drive and don't have a Microsoft account linked, it's even more important to keep that recovery key! Write it down and stash it away safely. You don't want to risk losing access to your computer over a simple oversight.
Honestly, it's best to have that recovery key just in case. You never know when you might get locked out—sometimes Windows updates can mess with the startup, and without that key, you could find yourself in a tough spot. Just write it down and keep it somewhere safe! It's better to be safe than sorry.
You might think it's not a big deal, but it's totally worth it to have the recovery key on hand. It's just a few numbers, really. Think about the hassle of being locked out because of a glitch or update! Better safe than sorry, right? Just jot it down somewhere secure.
