Do I Need a New Power Supply for My New RTX 5070?

Hey there! I have a quick question about whether I need to upgrade my power supply. I just bought a PNY RTX 5070 OC, and I'm currently using a 650W PSU that I got from Micro Center, which has an 8-pin PCIe input and comes with two 6+2 connectors. My CPU is a 5600X3D. Since the GPU requires 650W, I think I should be fine power-wise, but I'm unsure about the connections. The 5070 has a 12-pin connector and I've heard it comes with an adapter, but I'm hesitant to open the box in case I need to return it. I've read conflicting information on whether my current daisy-chained 6+2 connectors can power the 5070 or if I need separate 8-pin inputs. I don't want to risk damaging my system, so any input would be greatly appreciated!

How old is your PSU? I noticed it's rated E tier on the PSU Tier List, which isn’t ideal. It might be a good idea to get a new power supply just to be safe.

I bought it new at Micro Center towards the end of 2023, so I think it’s pretty recent.

The confusion stems from the fact that this really is a "it depends" situation. While having two discrete 8-pin connectors is the best practice, honestly, you could likely run the 5070 just fine with the daisy-chain setup. Just keep an eye on your system's performance and power load; it should work if you're not pushing the card to its limits.

Thanks for the reassurance! I appreciate it—I’ll definitely be cautious just to be on the safe side.
