I'm looking to buy an RTX 3080 from a friend, but my current setup only has an 8-pin PCIe connector. The GPU requires a 16-pin connection. Should I get an adapter like an 8-pin to dual 6+2 pin, or is there a better solution? The GPU is a Gigabyte model, just in case it makes a difference.

You definitely need to upgrade your power supply (PSU) if you only have a single 8-pin PCIe connector. The RTX 3080 needs more power than that can provide. An 8-pin to dual 6+2 pin adapter isn't a great idea either. It's safer and more efficient to get a proper PSU that supports the new GPU.

What PSU would you recommend?
