Do I Need Special Drivers for My New Motherboard?

I recently built a budget PC with a MAG B550 TOMAHAWK motherboard. I've read that motherboards typically need their own drivers, but the only ones available for this board seem to be for Windows 11. My PC is still being assembled, and I'm concerned whether this could cause issues down the line. Will I run into problems because of this, and how can I resolve them if needed?

You shouldn’t have to worry too much! When using Linux, the operating system usually includes necessary drivers for common hardware right out of the box. You're likely to be okay as long as your components are standard and well-supported.

Nope, no special drivers needed for motherboards typically! Linux is pretty good at recognizing components automatically. The main exceptions are things like Nvidia drivers or specific peripherals, but your motherboard should just work!

Exactly! As long as you stick with common hardware, you should be just fine. Just install Linux and it'll handle most of it for you.

It's generally a good practice to just install the Linux kernel along with the free and non-free firmware. Most mainstream hardware, like yours, shouldn’t pose any problems. Check for hardware compatibility on sites like linux-hardware.org if you're curious.
