Do I Need to Buy a New Cable for My GPU?

Hey everyone! I have a rather old 600W power supply unit (PSU) with a single GPU cable that's an 8-pin daisy chained to a 2+6-pin connector. The PC was a gift, and while it's semi-modular, I don't have any extra cables for it. I'm now looking into using a 12VHPWR cable for a new GPU, which I believe I need an additional 8-pin cable for. Is it safe to get a cable from the same brand (be quiet!)? Would the daisy chain setup still work, or is there another solution that doesn't require switching the entire PSU?

You can actually use a specific adapter made for this. I found a 4x8 pin PCIe to 12V-2x6 adapter that has beQuiet modular connectors on the PSU side. So, if your PSU has at least two PCIe modular ports, this should work perfectly for you!

That's great to know! Do you have a link for that adapter?

It really depends on the GPU you plan to use. If it's a 250W model or less, the setup you have could work just fine along with the adapter that typically comes with the GPU. But for those higher-end models, you might need to ensure everything is rated for the power they demand.
